Heat Exchangers
for passive cooling of cabinets in polluted environments
Heat exchangers are used to cool enclosures without mixing ambient air into the enclosure.
Through closed and passive heat transfer, the enclosure class is maintained while excess heat is dissipated.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about heat exchangers
When is a heat exchanger the right choice?
Heat exchangers are the right choice when you need to cool cabinets but cannot or do not want to use a filter fan or cooling unit.
- High protection class must be maintained (dust, moisture, oil mist)
- The ambient air is dirty or aggressive
- The temperature difference between inside and outside is sufficient
- Maintenance-free and reliable cooling prioritized
When might other solutions be more appropriate?
Heat exchangers are not always the right solution in all applications.
- The ambient temperature is the same or higher than in the enclosure. → cooling unit required
- Only simple ventilation is needed → filter fan is simpler and more cost-effective
- Very low heat load → passive ventilation or natural convection may be sufficient
How do heat exchangers differ from filter fans?
Heat exchangers cool without letting in ambient air, while filter fans ventilate with outside air.
Can heat exchangers replace chillers?
No, they can only cool when the ambient temperature is lower than the temperature in the enclosure.
Do heat exchangers require maintenance?
They are largely maintenance-free compared to filter fans.
Do heat exchangers affect the enclosure class?
No, the enclosure class is maintained because air is not mixed.
